Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer for an innovative technology organization in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. The Network Engineer role is a hybrid position with 2 days onsite in the office in RTP, NC. The Network Engineer will support shared infrastructure within a dynamic lab environment, providing hands-on support across networking, systems administration, and end-user support functions. An ideal candidate for the Network Engineer role is a versatile IT professional with CCNA-level networking expertise who thrives in a fast-paced "shadow IT" environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

• Support and maintain shared lab infrastructure including network devices, servers, endpoints, and related systems.

• Troubleshoot network connectivity, system performance, and end-user technical issues across the environment.

• Assist with configuration, deployment, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless technologies.

• Provide help desk support and technical assistance for lab users, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement infrastructure improvements and support lab initiatives.

Qualifications of the Network Engineer:

• 2+ years of experience supporting network infrastructure, systems administration, and/or help desk environments.

• CCNA certification or equivalent hands-on networking experience with routing, switching, and TCP/IP fundamentals.

• Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux systems within enterprise or lab environments.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities across networking, systems, and user support.

• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Compensation for the Network Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $80,000 – $110,000 depending on experience

• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law
