Senior Cloud Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a federal modernization program focused on delivering secure, scalable, and mission-critical cloud solutions for government customers. This position is on-site at Huntsville, AL. The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead cloud architecture, deployment, optimization, and sustainment efforts while supporting application modernization, DevSecOps initiatives, and enterprise cloud operations. Responsibilities for the Senior Cloud Engineer include:

• Design, build, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise applications, data platforms, and modernization initiatives.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar automation tools.
• Support CI/CD pipeline integration, cloud automation, monitoring, observability, and secure DevSecOps practices.
• Implement and maintain cloud security controls including IAM, encryption, network segmentation, compliance, and vulnerability management.
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, performance, and deployment issues while supporting development, testing, and migration teams.

Required Qualifications for the Senior Cloud Engineer include:

• 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud operations, infrastructure engineering, or related technical environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, cloud networking, VPC design, load balancing, security controls, and automation technologies.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, cloud automation tools, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation for the Senior Cloud Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $170,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
