Lead DevSecOps Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Lead DevSecOps Engineer to support a government customer focused on modernizing mission-critical air traffic management systems. This individual will be responsible for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, managing cloud infrastructure, and implementing security automation to support scalable, reliable software deployments.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor Township, NJ, for candidates within a one-hour commute.

Responsibilities for the Lead DevSecOps Engineer Include:

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated integration, testing, and software deployments.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and Docker containerized environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration management.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, SCA, and vulnerability scanning tools into development pipelines.
• Implement software supply chain security controls including SBOM generation, artifact signing, and dependency scanning.
• Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to improve platform reliability.
• Automate operational workflows using Python, Bash, and DevOps tooling.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve deployment efficiency, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and support platform modernization.

Qualifications for the Lead DevSecOps Engineer Include:

• 4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2+ years with a Master's degree; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Linux administration.
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Python, Bash, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, security scanning, container security, and software supply chain security.
• Experience with networking, load balancing, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies and cross-functional development teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Compensation for the Lead DevSecOps Engineer Includes:

• Compensation: $65 - $75/hr depending on experience
