Principal Solutions Architect

Piper Companies is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to join a leading financial services organization in downtown Raleigh, NC. The Principal Solutions Architect will lead enterprise architecture initiatives, drive AI strategy and adoption, and provide technical leadership for highly scalable applications supporting tens of millions of users and records. This role is ideal for a hands-on architect who enjoys mentoring teams, building proof of concepts, influencing technology strategy, and contributing directly to development efforts when needed. This role requires you to work onsite in Downtown Raleigh, NC 4 days per week.

Responsibilities of the Principal Solutions Architect:

    • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale architecture solutions that prioritize scalability, resiliency, performance, and security.

    • Provide technical leadership across software engineering teams, including architecture guidance, mentorship, proof of concept development, and hands-on coding when necessary.

    • Drive AI and application modernization initiatives, including the evaluation and implementation of tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Atlassian Rovo, SharePoint, and Jira integrations.

    • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to develop strategic roadmaps and deliver business-critical cloud and enterprise solutions.

Requirements of the Principal Solutions Architect:

    • 10+ years of software engineering and architecture experience within large-scale enterprise environments.

    • Strong architecture experience designing and scaling highly available, low-latency applications supporting 30-50+ million users or records.

    • Hands-on development experience with both Java and .NET technologies, with recent development work focused on Java.

    • Extensive experience with AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Atlassian Rovo, and related enterprise AI technologies.

    • Experience within financial services, banking, fintech, or other highly regulated environments.

Compensation for the Principal Solutions Architect:

    • Salary range: $185,000 - $195,000
