Senior Devops Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Devops Engineer to join a leading cloud software organization supporting highly regulated federal environments. The Senior Devops Engineer will shape the architecture and technical direction of platform services focused on FedRAMP High and IL5 initiatives, driving automation, platform reliability, and scalable deployment capabilities across engineering teams.

Responsibilities of the Senior Devops Engineer:

• Define and drive the technical strategy for Platform Services supporting FedRAMP High and IL5 environments.

• Own architectural decisions across centralized platform APIs, reusable CI/CD components, deployment workflows, and automated service onboarding capabilities.

• Lead the modernization of manual release and promotion processes through automated, policy-driven delivery pipelines.

• Build and establish "golden path" deployment frameworks that enable engineering teams to rapidly and reliably deploy applications onto the platform.

• Develop standards for deployment validation, operational readiness, audit compliance, change control, and rollback procedures.

• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to align platform capabilities, resolve dependencies, and drive technical decision-making.

• Lead architecture and design reviews focused on security, compliance, observability, reliability, and operational ownership.

Qualifications of the Senior Devops Engineer:

• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Operations, or related disciplines.

• Strong software engineering foundation with object-oriented programming experience in Python, Go, Ruby, Java, or similar languages prior to transitioning into DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles.

• Deep expertise with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, deployment orchestration, and cloud-native application platforms.

• Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and platform automation initiatives.

• Strong knowledge of AWS, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production operations.

• Proven experience building deployment platforms, self-service developer experiences, and standardized engineering workflows.

• Expertise in deployment validation, observability, incident response, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.

• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and technical direction across multiple engineering teams.

• Experience supporting FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, GovCloud, FIPS, or other highly regulated environments is highly preferred.

• Experience with centralized platform APIs, artifact promotion, deployment control planes, progressive delivery, or service onboarding automation is preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Devops Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000
