Piper Companies is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join a leading technology-focused organization in the Research Triangle Park area. The Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for securing multi-cloud environments across AWS and Azure, implementing cloud-native security controls, and collaborating with infrastructure and engineering teams to strengthen the organization's security posture. This role is ideal for a security professional with hands-on experience in cloud security tools, governance, and threat detection within enterprise cloud environments.
Responsibilities of the Cloud Security Engineer:
• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure for security threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps using cloud-native and third-party security tools.
• Partner with engineering and DevOps teams to integrate security best practices throughout the SDLC.
• Conduct cloud security assessments, risk analyses, and vulnerability management activities.
• Implement identity and access management (IAM) controls, security policies, and governance frameworks.
• Support incident response efforts related to cloud-based security events and investigations.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, standards, and procedures for cloud platforms.
• Assist with regulatory compliance initiatives and cloud security audits.
Qualifications of the Cloud Security Engineer:
• 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, or information security engineering.
• Hands-on experience securing both AWS and Azure environments.
• Experience with cloud security platforms and tools such as Prisma Cloud, Wiz, Lacework, CrowdStrike, Defender for Cloud, Security Hub, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of IAM, network security, encryption, and cloud governance principles.
• Experience with vulnerability management, SIEM platforms, and security monitoring solutions.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and security best practices including NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant cloud or security certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), CISSP, CCSP, or Security+ are highly preferred.
Compensation for the Cloud Security Engineer includes:
• Salary range: $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
• Hybrid work schedule in the RTP, NC area
