Sr. Linux Systems Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Engineer to join a leading technology-driven organization focused on infrastructure modernization and cloud enablement. The Sr. Linux Systems Engineer will play a critical role in managing data center operations, supporting enterprise infrastructure, and developing tooling that enables seamless infrastructure provisioning into AWS environments. The Sr. Linux Systems Engineer is a contract to hire opportunity and allows you to work remotely in the United States.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• Manage and maintain enterprise data center infrastructure, including physical and virtual environments.
• Support and enhance tooling used to bootstrap and provision infrastructure within AWS.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in production environments.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware virtualization platforms and NetApp storage solutions.
• Build, configure, and support bare metal servers within data center environments.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to improve automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Assist with Kubernetes administration and containerized platform support as needed.
• Monitor system performance, resolve infrastructure issues, and implement best practices for operations.

Requirements of the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• 7+ years of Systems Administration and/or Systems Engineering experience.
• Strong experience managing Linux environments, preferably Ubuntu, although other distributions such as Red Hat are acceptable.
• Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
• Experience supporting and administering NetApp storage environments.
• Proven background building and maintaining bare metal server infrastructure within data centers.
• Experience supporting AWS infrastructure and cloud migration initiatives.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and provisioning tools.

Compensation for the Sr. Linux Systems Engineer:

• $125,000-$155,000
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
